Natural-cultural Memory in the Anthropocene (funded by the German Research Foundation)

How are anthropogenic changes of the natural environment inscribed into cultural memory? Funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG), the project "Natural-cultural memory in the Anthropocene. Archives, Media and Literatures of Earth History" (2024-2026) addresses cultural dimensions of planetary crises such as climate change or the sixth mass extinction from the perspective of interdisciplinary memory studies.

‘Technofossils’ show traces of the interweaving of humans and the environment, and as such become objects of natural-cultural memory.
