As a representative of a municipality or a company, you may have a question or concern that you would like to see researched. Perhaps you don't have the data to make informed decisions about a particular issue. We would be happy to explore with you how the issue could be addressed. For example, we can find out who is doing research on this topic at the University of Vechta or in our networks. If the question is suitable for a student project, we pass it on to colleagues with service learning seminars. If the issue is to become a larger project, we help to establish a cooperation with researchers and (in close cooperation with the Department for Research and Transfer) to find suitable funding opportunities.

Since summer 2016, Science Shop Vechta/Cloppenburg offers a seminar in which groups of students conduct research on regional issues or develop concepts for practice partners. The seminar addresses essential approaches and concepts of transdisciplinarity and "Responsible Research and Innovation" as well as practices of participatory research and science shops. The students then cooperate with partner institutions like civil society organisations, municipal institutions, educational institutions or companies. Our students have different subject backgrounds and thus work in interdisciplinary research groups.

The aim of this seminar is for science to help address regional societal challenges.
