German courses & entrance qualification

Our German language courses prepare you optimally for your studies. Participants can be enrolled as preparatory students; this allows you to apply for a visa.

If you are interested, you can attend courses from the study programmes parallel to the German course and earn your first credits for your studies.

Do you need to attend a Studienkolleg (one-year preparatory course) before you start your degree programme? For certain target groups, we offer an alternative to the Studienkolleg that opens up access to a degree programme in Vechta!

Onboarding, Accommodation & Financing

Specific onboarding events and intercultural workshops help international students find their way around the university and settle into life in Germany ("international kick-off days").

Whether you are looking for suitable accommodation in Vechta or have questions about funding (e.g. applying for the "Deutschlandstipendium" scholarship, looking for a part-time student job or applying for BAföG) - we are happy to help.

Study Success

Mentoring & Workshops

Peer Mentors will help you find your way around the university and are avaible for questions concerning your studies. Joint activities (exkursions etc.) can also be part of the mentoring programme which will provide you with an opportunity to get in touch with local students right away.

Workshops on academic writing will help you to find your way around the German university system.

Language skills

A study module about terminology and basics of the German social system offers international students the opportunity to deepen their knowledge of the terminology required for their studies and to familiarize themselves with the German social system.

Community

International networking events, intercultural evenings and excursions offer the chance to discuss various matters of interest in a relaxed atmosphere and to make friends and new experiences.

Career

Discover your career options

A study module on career options gives you an opportunity to gain insights into potential fields of work and practical experience through  internships and guest lectures by alumni of your degree programme.

Professional Networking

Excursions to career fairs allow students to expand their career-specific skills and get in touch with potential employers.

Career Service

Students receive individual support on their career path through personal advice and workshops on topics such as internships, (student) jobs and career planning.

Our degree programmes

Please note that our degree programmes are taught in German (see our preparatory German classes)!

Management & Gerontology

Management and social responsibility - we bring it together:

Our degree programme Management of Social Services (BA/MA) combines profound business theory with plenty of opportunities for practical experiences and thus prepares you for a management position in the healthcare or social system.

Alternatively, those interested in a management position in the field of supporting elderly people will find the Gerontology (BA/MA) degree programme to be a perfect fit.

Social Work & Educational Sciences

A degree in Social Work (BA/MA) opens up a wide range of employment opportunities in social institutions, e.g. in social work in schools, in the field of child and youth welfare, in supporting people with migration experience or in working with people with disabilities.

For those interested in youth and adult education or other pedagogical professions (outside the teaching profession), we offer the major Educational Sciences (as part of the Bachelor's programme Combined Studies).

Teacher Training Programme and Further Options

The teacher training programme prepares students to work at a state school.

Foreign teachers can have their teaching qualification recognised by participating in the adaptation course and then work as regular teachers in Germany.

The "FIT" project focuses on supporting (prospective) students in degree programmes that prepare them for a career in the healthcare and social system.

You can find information on our other study programmes with a focus on sustainability and social change here.
