The district of Vechta offers children, teenagers and adults a wide range of leisure activities.

Sports in the district of Vechta

The sports association Kreissportbund Vechta offers a large selection of over 30 different sports. On their website, you can find the individual clubs for the respective sport. There is badminton, basketball, equestrian sports, sailing, ju-jutsu, adaptive sports and much more. Please check out the website of the Kreissportbund for more information.

There are also various fitness studios, yoga studios, a golf club and dance schools in Vechta.

Swimming pools and lakes

In and around Vechta, there are several possibilities to swim a few lanes or to cool down in summer.

The Hallenwellenbad in Vechta has an indoor wave pool and an outdoor pool with slides.

The Waldbad in Lohne offers refreshment in summer with a pool for lane swimming, a water park with slide and a water playground as well as diving platforms. It is surrounded by trees and therefore very idyllic.

The Toncoole is a natural swimming pool that opens every year in May. At the small lake, there is also a beach for relaxing, a volleyball court, a small kiosk and a beer garden. The address is Tannenweg 16 in Vechta.

In the surroundings of Vechta, you can also make day trips to different lakes like the Hartensbergsee in Goldenstedt or the Dümmer See near Damme.

Children’s and youth centres

Haus der Jugend

In Vechta, there is the Haus der Jugend, also called Gulfhaus. It is located in the Zitadellenpark and is the youth centre of the town. Young people can take advantage of various offers in their free time, play billiard, table tennis or table football and meet friends. Furthermore, there is a craft room, a kitchen and a youth café. The chess club meets every Monday and Thursday is Girls Day. In addition to the specific offers for young people, the Gulfhaus also offers cultural events and concerts. Evangelische Jugend Oldenburg

The Evangelische Jugend Oldenburg (Protestant Youth Oldenburg) is the parish’s youth organisation of the Lutheran Church in Oldenburg. It comprises over 100 parishes and six church districts and is located in Vechta. The association offers leisure activities for children and teenagers and brings church to life. The children and teenagers can participate in camps and trips as well as meetings and seminars, church services, devotions and festivals, projects, do sports or relax. Registration is required. Day trips

In addition to leisure activities on a regular basis, the district of Vechta also offers many opportunities for fun day trips with the whole family.

Near the Zitadellenpark, there is the Hochzeitswald (wedding forest), inviting you to a beautiful Sunday walk and a break in nature.

At the Dümmer-Vogelschauyou can observe almost 200 different species of stuffed birds and related ornithological information.

The Freilichtbühne Lohne (open-air theatre) offers a varied programme of musicals, children’s theatre, comedies and much more.

The Haus am Moor in the Goldenstedter Moor is perfect for a bicycle tour. You can discover the unique and unusual natural landscape of the moor.

The Heuerhaus Herzog in Steinfeld is a museum that shows the life of the people in Vechta in the 18th century.

The Zeughaus in the Zitadellenpark Vechta gives you an impression of Vechta in the Middle Ages.
