Learning languages at the University of Vechta

If you would like to improve your German or English skills or even learn a new language during your stay at the University of Vechta, here you can find information on the language training opportunities the University offers.

The University of Vechta offers language training (also computer-supported) at the Language Centre (Sprachenzentrum). The courses and services of the Language Centre are open to matriculated students of the University, as well as to staff members (in research and administration). If you are a student (e.g. PhD student) or a staff member of the University of Vechta with a regular contract, you are welcome to take part in the courses and services of the Language Centre. You can find more information on the available courses and language certificates on the website of the Language Centre.

If you are not matriculated nor you have a job contract with the University (e.g. if you are a visiting scholar for a few months), you might not get access to the whole services of the Language Centre. However, you can still work on your language skills, for instance by participating in a language tandem. You will be matched with a native speaker of the language you wish to improve, if available, and you will thereby have the opportunity to meet, talk, improve your language skills, and help your tandem partner improve their language skills in your mother tongue. You can find more information on the tandem programme of the Language Centre here. The registration form available on this webpage is only for students of the University of Vechta. For visiting researchers, a registration is possible through the Welcome Centre. Please get in touch with us and we will take care of your registration at the Language Centre.

If you would like to attend a proper language course, we can also help you find alternative courses on or off campus, in the Vechta area.
